try and spend time with your children?

My ex-husband are now divorced… he’s still with the girl he cheated on me with and left me for, a year ago (actually almost to the date). My husband gets extra time with the child for x-mas vacation (I have sole custody)…. but turns out he has to work this monday. He was suppose to have the child until 7 pm this monday but will bring him in the morning to my parent’s instead (I have to work, and had already told the daycare the child would be absent)…

I told him I didn’t mind his girlfriend watching our child if he had to work… but he made excuses…turns out she doesn’t want the “hassle” to have to watch his child he shares with his ex-wife for a full day without him there…
They have been together a year, she claims high and low she loves the child like her own, yet tells my ex-husband he can’t go pick up or drop-off our son without her there, he can’t call to talk to me about our son, he can’t go to something for her child if he isn’t there, or if she allows him to go, she calls every 2 minutes…like he did yesterday for something we had at the daycare for christmas… and she called about 10 times in a 30 minutes period!…

After 3 months together she told him she wanted to have “their” family, their own child, so after 6 months they got pregnant…

Somehow, I get the feeling she’s trying to push my child out of my ex’s life, that she doesn’t want to bond with him, or anything… (btw, child is 18 months old, not like he’s a 5 yr old throwing tantrums)…

Do any of your ex’s new special someone actually take some time to spend with your child? Or is my situation usually the norm?
I have no problem taking the child if he can’t during his time and he knows that — and if I can’t, my parents will, or my parent’s best friends (who are like grandparents to my child). That’s not the issue… I **** the girl, but my child is still around her some time every week and every other weekend. I’m wondering if he’ll grow to feel “unloved” by his dad’s gf because of it.

His dad has made big efforts lately, for our son, and I’m happy about it. He does have to lie to her sometimes in order to talk to or see his son, but that’s his problem.

I’m just wondering if the new spouse is usually like that… seems she can’t accept my child, but she fully knew he was a father when she decided to pursue him.

My husband sends messages via his adult kids (22 and 22) to his ex-wife, emails regularly and sends money to her account for birthdays, and advises her on her insurances and what to pay for repairs etc. They were married a long time and it was a mutual decision for them to divorce – but I feel that he is very protective still of her and think he needs to break ties slightly (she has family and friends around her she can go to) – or is this normal? I dont know what to think – What is your experience?
